some observations on the Gaza campaign

Some observations on the Gaza campaign

By David Verveer

I know that the subject of the Gaza war is boring, we are already busy with more interesting items such as the weight of Miss Paris Hilton and the sex life of Madonna, but still I have to remind you that there is a war going on, on a small strip of desert, south west of Israel, against a group of terrorists, who keep 1 and half million of Palestinians as hostages, in their attempt to legalize their actions of terrorizing Israel.

I will not go into the historical aspects of this fight, neither the right for any individual to live according his own convictions, even if this is according the Islamic Shariac laws. But what bothers me is the peculiar way; Israel's fight with Hamas is brought to the readers of the free world. Even though, the Hamas organization has been classified as an International terrorist organization, in the free press, the extreme left and extreme right, they (the terrorists) are pictured daily as poor underdogs, suffering from a type of Holocaust brought on them by those brute and cruel Israelis.

I know, we should apologize to the world, that Israel is a stronger military force than a few thousand armed criminals who keep the Palestinian population as hostage and use them as shields, trying to get the sympathy from the World press by creating scenes of suffering innocent bystanders. The reason Israel uses all his available might in destroying the Hamas is obvious, as we can not afford to lose the battle, which would be the end of Israel. But the world does not like a stronger force, irrelevant who it is opposing, it loves the underdog, and in this case, the suffering of the underdog (the Palestinian), are caused by actions of the Hamas, is blamed fully on the Israeli oppressor.

Those wise men of the United Nations Security Council decided a few days ago that fighting should be stopped, Israel told the council politely that it could not adhere to this clever decision, as it would not solve the problem, which requires to eliminate once and for all this dangerous cancer which threatens the entire free world, the Hamas did not reply to the Security council, but the press informed the world that the aggressor Israel refused to lay down their arms, don’t the journalists know the ancient expression of "it takes two to tango".

Than we have the item of Israel attacking UN schools, mosques and public buildings, killing numerous innocent Palestinians, nobody writes about the 5 Israeli schools and nurseries bombed only in the last two weeks, because that was no item, nobody got killed, because we don't use our public for political purposes, our innocent population of children, women and non military people (under fire for the last 8 years) are running for cover several times per day because incoming missiles, aimed at innocent people not the army. Why don't the Governments in our gracious world protest those brave attacks on the civilian population of Israel, are our lives of less value than those of the Palestinians?

But nobody in the West wants to know the truth, what really happened at those schools, who did what and why? Three facts of what occurred really in those murky town streets in the Gaza strip, as can be seen on recorded videos (filmed of course by those lying bastards of the Israeli Defense Forces, during the battle).
1 – "UNWRA School". The school has been closed since the war started; Palestinian refugees were temporary allocated on the school grounds, joined by a small band of terrorists, who fired from the school compound on he Israeli troops. The Israelis returned fire killing the terrorists and the Palestinians in the line of fire. The Hamas reported 50 killed (most children) but failed to provide a list of their names, nor shows the video published by the Hamas, more than 4 children, who were carried into the hospital (the same kids over and over again) without any clue if they were hurt or killed.

2 – "The school in Bet Hanoun". The troops advancing in this town found the school building empty, and camped there for the night, in the morning, a curious Israeli trouper noticed just on time that the school, including a small zoo of wild animals, had been booby trapped, (with more than a half ton of explosives'), warning his friends to run for safety, would they have succeeded in blowing up 150 Israeli soldiers, would it recorded by the press as another aggression by the Israelis against the children of Palestine, or would it have been recorded as one of the heroic actions by Hamas?

3 – The head quarters of Hamas (at least the Military wing) is underneath the major hospital of Gaza, knowing that the Israeli Air Force will never bomb the hospital. This is a known fact; however the Western Press fails to write about it.

The Hamas is using the phrase: "we are doing nothing, but those Israeli cowards are kicking back". But facts are not important, a Super jet bombing tunnels with modern penetrating bombs is not proper Journalistic material, a Palestinian bleeding on the floor sells much better.

I wonder why the same pictures in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq never reach the Press, could it be that we are Jews.

I know, nobody besides my friends reads my blog posts, and my complaint about objectivity is not an item to publish, as everybody knows that it is not politically correct to agree with Israel, specially now, with the economy crisis caused by Jews.

Thank God I am an Israeli, living in Israel!

Thank God, I am an Israeli, living in Israel!

By David Verveer

I just finished to read 200 reactions on an article by a Dutch Journalist, Jaap Hamburger, who consider himself in having objective opinions on Israel and Israeli policies, specially concerning Israeli treatment of the Palestinians (Arabs) living in and around Israel. The article was published in the Dutch daily, de Volkskrant, and received more than 200 reactions, opinions of extremists against and pro Israeli, with arguments based on religion, history, racism and mostly, insufficient data based on propaganda media proclaimed by all sides involved in the conflict.

Clearly, this discussion is an intellectual exercise which has no influence, what so ever on the situation, but today, with the existence of the Internet, people are free to try to convince others of their insight on the crimes and behavior of those terrible Israelis / Arabs, etc.

Don't worry, I am not going to add to this my one-sided opinion on our rights (Israeli) and why we do what we do, and are rather successful in doing it. This letter has an entire different purpose, I am trying to show you that I became Israeli and Zionist, not because of having a feeling of superiority on other people, but due to what happened to me, during my life-time, I can put my trust only in people of my kind, as I was a stranger (and fugitive) in my native country, "the Netherlands".

I was born one year before the German invasion of Holland, and being only three years old (and one day), I was taken into hiding, and during 3 years, I was moved from one place to the other, when the last place became unsafe (neighbors talking and traitors living near by). I was saved by good Dutchmen, who risked their own life in order to save mine. The last 1 and half years I lived in a village near Leiden, in the house of a Protestant church alder, in the middle of the German Army Division Head quarter, which had taken over the neighborhood. The fact that I survived was mainly because we lived in the middle of the spider web, a place were they did not count the number of children next door, and the SS hesitated in entering.

The war ended, and the war-worn country was run by the Allies, who put restriction on traveling. My mother, who had been hiding in the north of the country, in order to find her family, had to fight to get travel permits put upon her by the Allies, but mostly fight the Dutch civil administration, who during the war served the German, and now again carried on as loyal civil servants. Letters and permits issued by these Dutch clerks showed that anti-Semitism is something you can learn, but not lose.

My father, an civil engineer and architect was caught by the SS and murdered in October 1944, when in service of the résistance, tried to prepare drawings of the famous Ijsel Line, a design of critical dikes systems, which if bombarded, would put half of Holland underwater, and complicate the Germans from retreating with their tanks, back over the German border.

I am one of four children, three boys and one girl. My sister who is the youngest, was not as lucky as me, and was arrested by the Germans (she was nearly two years old at that time), and transported to the concentration camps, which she survived. A documentary was made of this called "the unknown children".
After liberation, she was send back to Holland by the Red Cross, and after uniting for a weekend with my mother, sent to Switzerland to recover and strengthen.
My older brothers also survived, and were sent for recuperation to Denmark.
I was nor so lucky, suffering from a skin disease, the Red cross did not accept me, and my mother and me received a temporary home in the village from where we fled 3 and a half years earlier. Our previous prewar (rented) house was still standing empty with our own furniture inside, but the wise civil administration decided that a woman with one child does not have to live in a big house, and should live in a leaking wooden summer house, in the middle of the woods, during a severe winters (1945 / 6)

The family was united in 1946, when my mother was appointed director of a Jewish parent home, which served at the time as first stage collection center for Jews surviving camps and returning to Holland. I don't have to explain that this was not an ideal place to bring up children, having them selves suffered sufficient traumas to last a lifetime.

Only in 1947, my murdered father was recognized as War hero and resistance fighter, and we were allotted a pension that enabled my mother to move to a flat and start rebuilding the family. We never became a normal family, and about 8 years later, the family fall apart, when one brother immigrating to Israel, the other brother in the Dutch Army sent to Suriname (S.A), and me, going to England to study Agriculture. My mother and sister remained together in Holland.

None of us remained in Holland, as we felt not belonging, not trusting anybody and un-equal with our neighbors. Not that we suffered anti Semitism, but we were and are treated as "outsiders", and the few Jews who remained in Holland know either that I am right in this observation, or try to deny this and remain an outsider for life.

And now, I finally reach the reason of writing all this, Israel provides me with a feeling of belonging, I am here because this are my people, here I can do something against being hunted as animal because religion and race. Of course I do not agree with every political move of the Israeli Government, of course I don’t agree with any extremist from either side, but I am home, this is my country, which we fought for and succeeded in creating against all odds. We did not get the country as present from anybody, just the opposite; nobody made it easy for us.

How irrelevant and stupid are arguments from all sides in the Dutch, English or US papers, "promised land", Arab Palestinians, Israeli Arabs, discrimination, this one said, that one wrote, all bull-shit, Israel is a relative democratic society, existing in the middle of a sea of dictatorial and autocratic regimes, trying to be human, even though sometimes our behavior sounds illogical, remember we are here, we stay here and we have no other choice in being always the strongest, as we don't have the luxury of losing. Remember, the Europeans ousted us, not by a decision of the Spanish Monarch in 1492, but by allowing the Nazi beast to kill 7 million of my people.

We made true the phrase "never again" by creating our own fortress, not perfect, but independent, our current enemy fights us and tries to terrorizes us, but we are able to defend ourselves, we hit back, we do not have to go into hiding, we are not hunted as animals. The Europeans, or anybody else in the Diaspora, can not give us such assurance, the Islam is invading you and slowly but surely, you are losing your democracies, your freedom and right to live, and you will have to fight to regain your freedom, just as we did and do, and the sooner the better you need to realize that your criticism of our policies will not save you, nor spare you.

what is the truth?

What is the truth ?

By David Verveer

The past week was very traumatic and sad, when the Hezbollah returned two dead soldiers that were kidnapped on the border, two years earlier. The exchange of bodies for prisoners was arranged with the assistance of the Germans. The deal was struck after years of indirect negotiations, in which the Hezbollah started of with huge demands, and ended up with getting back a young terrorist who twenty odd years ago killed several people, including a 4 year old girl, by smashing in her scull.

This terrorist spend his time in Israeli prison, by studying and even gained university education, received visits on a regular base by the Red cross representative and would have remained in prison for life, if not liberated by the exchange deal, last week.
This terrorist was actually a Lebanese Druze, belonging to the Communist party, and in ideals, just the opposite of those of his liberators, the Shiite Hezbollah.

The horrible truth is, that in order to free this terrorist, the 2 soldiers were kidnapped, which led to the second Lebanese war, and if Israel would have returned this terrorist with the last exchange 2and half years ago, when Israel received 3 dead soldiers and an Israeli drug dealer, in exchange for some Lebanese prisoners of war, they would not have attempted to kidnap our soldiers, who were most probable killed during the kidnap action.

Of course, the Hezbollah played their cards right, and did not release any information on the conditions of those soldiers (who were already dead) and Nashrallah in his speeches played with the feelings of the families (and all Israelis), Red cross was not allowed to visit prisoners, information and medical assistance were nor given, and even though, the local medical examination of the scene, indicated that the soldiers might have died in the attempt, there is nothing more stronger than hope, and the entire nation hoped for safe return of the kidnapped soldiers.

Eventually, the Government agreed to release the killer terrorist, in exchange for the soldiers. This drama took place 3 days ago, when until the last moment, the fate of the soldiers was still in doubt, until the television cameras showed the two coffins.
In Beirut, posters in English stated something like; "Israel cries while Lebanon celebrates"., which was sad but very true. The liberated terrorist was received like a hero, dressed in an officer's outfit of a officer in the "soldiers of Allah" semi military group, with everyone important in Lebanon, kissing him and hailing him as having performed great deeds for his nation, irrelevant that if he would have managed to return to Lebanon, after his killing spree 20 years back, he would have been eliminated by communist hating Shiite Hezbollah, but who cares about the truth.

An Israeli Journalist Uri Ourbach wrote in Y- net and open letter to the Lebanese people, in which he asked them, if this ruthless child killer represents their sentiments, the published back-talks were blood chilling. Many of those talkbacks were written by Arabs, Palestinians and Lebanese, and of course, talkback response by Israelis and Arabs. Most responses were angry replies, that Israel's army has killed many innocent children and women, in capable in comprehending the difference between accidental deaths, when Hezbollah shoots from civilian concentrations, and willful terrorist killings. To those talk-backers, the truth was not important, eye for eye and tooth for tooth, the Israeli is an occupier of Arab Palestine and killing Jews is allowed (as there is no innocent Israeli).

Based on those talk-backs, I conclude that there is no hope for the Middle East, the irrational killing will continue, our and their extremists will drive us from war to war, truth, humanism, historic facts will all be pushed away by religious fanatics and zealots, who over and over again, will justify their ways, by claiming that it is Gods commands, which makes them to behave this way.

All this would not have been possible, if the world would not be depending on Arab Oil, as our human society is driven solely by economics. Funny enough, organized crime driven by the Islam are taking over the democracies of Western Europe, and there is nothing we can do about it, and even here in Israel, we seem to be incapable of dealing with corruption versus continuing our only democracy in the Middle East. The opposition parties look desperate for finding alleged crimes committed by the current Prime Minister, ten years ago, when he was still Mayor of Jerusalem and later on Minister of Industry and Trade. Their sick desire in trying to get back in power reminds the story of the scorpion and the turtle, who made an agreement, in which the turtle would carry the scorpion to the other side of the river, provided the scorpion would not strike it with it poison, but when nearing the other side, the scorpion gave is poisonous strike, killing both through drowning. Reason for his deed and breaking his word, was that you can not change the natural behavior impulses.

But now we are going to happier times, the Olympic Games are due to begin in a fortnight, and there is nothing like Games to take temporary the mind of all current problems, such as water shortage, politics, our remaining hostage in Gaza by the Hamas, world economics, etc. Not important that our participants are hardly at Olympic level, irrelevant that they will never get to the required level, if we do not invest in their training, we keep on hoping for the impossible, who would have expected that our "Yiddischer boggers" (Jewish Boys) participate in International sport events, we really put Israel on the map.

In conclusion, and an answer to Uri Ourbach, who cares what the Lebanese think about Kuntar and his deeds, thank God, I am Israeli, and with all our "Tsores" (problems), we still have a wonderful country, and never a boring day. Think about it, the Arabs were already punished by birth, of being what they are, and suffering from their own kind and a cruel jealous religion, much more than those crimes they manage to commit against us. I too, as a Good Jew, every morning I thank God that he did not make me …. (an Arab).

news from arabstan

News from Arabstan (Europe) former Ravenstein

By David Verveer

It is now 5 years since the mini-state Arabstan was created after a short war of independence. The micro state is situated between Belgium and Holland and occupies the historical region of Ravenstein and parts of the provinces North Brabant and Belgium's Limburg. The Islamite population is mainly composed out Immigrant laborers working in the German Ruhr Region, Rotterdam and Antwerp, who commute each day by train to and from their work places.

Funny enough, the only place in the European Common Market with customs and border control is on the borders between Arabstan and its neighbors, but it seems that this is a friendly border, now that the threat of Russian influence on Arabstan has subsided. As you most likely will remember, the Russian Leader Putin tried to establish a nuclear base as retaliation on Nato bases in the former Soviet states, but this threat was cancelled when suddenly the president of Arabstan declared that Arabstan will not be a tool in the new developing cold war between the West and East. A rumor says that this statement came after the European Union told Arabstan if it allows Russian bases Europe will close its borders and not allow any Arabstan workers to work.

The entire situation of an Islamic state in the middle of the Christian nations worked out much better than was expected, not only did Arabstan reject the strict Moslem laws, as they would cause conflicts with its neighbors, it also allowed full freedom of religion.

Arabstan reduced the Islamic conflicts in countries such as France, Belgium and Holland. Funny enough, the crime rate in Western Europe was considerably reduced after the creation of an Islamic free state, which accepted everybody of the Islamic faith, even if they had problems with the police in their states of origin.

This year, over 100,000 Arabstanies went on Hajj during the holidays of Idl fatha, extra flights were put in between Arabstan International Airport and Mecca, without custom services generally required for international flights from and to Arabstan.

Also the holy town Islamabad (former Oosteren) staged a secondary pilgrimage for those, who could not afford the cost of the Hajj, (4.000 Euro), with as center the Mosque and the burial site and stone memorial for their martyrs, who died in the war of independence

The only negative question remains, is the problem of the refugees (the original population, around 200,000 people living in refugee camps near the borders of Arabstan.. The plight of those refugees, forced to live in camps, is terrible, most are penniless, and fled without possessions, workless and without future. The European states refuse to deal with their problem, as it would mean an acceptance of the Arabstan, which in fact is a blessing, but can not be admitted as such, as it would mean a loss of face for the European Union.

Those refugee camps are hardly suitable to house people, the medical and social services are restricted to the minimum. People, who have the same faith as the host country, are treated as potential enemies. Those refugees are near rebellion and surely, if no solution is found soon, this situation will explode in the faces of the European Union.

The financial status of Arabstan is excellent, due to the income derived from the laborers working for the European industries, and many international banks have opened branches in Arabstan. Their shops and super markets are full with fresh imports from Holland and Belgium; of course the fact that the currency in Arabstan is the Euro simplifies the financial status of the country.

It became evident that the Islam state could survive without an army, with only a relative small police force who fully cooperates with the forces of the surrounding countries.

The only pity is that all this is based on my fertile imagination, and in fact Europe will face a major show down with its Islamic population, which will fight to the bitter end in trying to convert Europe to an Islamic region, intolerant to anybody of another faith, luckily I live in Israel, without any Islamic problems.

the promise

The promise

By David Verveer

The bible says that the Lord promised the territory on the Eastern Coast of the Mediterranean Sea to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and indeed, through the ages, people claiming blood relations to the two fathers of both the Arab and Jewish tribes lived un-interrupted in the holy land, after having conquered the area from the Philistines, Canaanites, etc. The so-called Moslem Palestinians ands the Jews are according DNA research, children of the same roots, and the impurity relates to neighboring tribes trading with the above descendants of Grandfather Abraham.

The rift between the Palestinian Moslems of today, Christians and Jews occurred in the Roman and Hellenistic period when the heads of the society were banned and forced to flee to less hostile regimes, but most people of our tribes stayed put in the holy land and accepted (mostly were forced to accept) the religion of the rulers.

Only when Intellects such as Herzl started to advocate that the Jewish people should return to their home land (now called Israel) they discovered that the promised land was not empty, and the locals (our cousins) were living there in poverty, ruled by big foreign powers (the Ottoman empire, and later on by the British (as a mandate). The local people (now called Palestinians) did nothing in order to gain their independence from the above foreign rulers, and were happy to continue their lives in relative poverty, provided they were left alone. Then two things happened, a – oil was discovered in the Middle East and b- the Jews started to immigrate to Israel (than Palestine). Soon we got 2 societies, the Jews and the Arabs (who served as laborers for the enterprising Jewish pioneers).

The relation between the two groups was relatively good, and if not, due to political propaganda from neighboring rulers, who feared the Jewish democratic approach, endangering their cozy feudal existence, by introducing horrible ideas such as human rights, equality and “one man one vote”, the coexistence would have continued, and indeed, a new Middle East would have emerged.

From the above you would assume that the Jews were good and the Arabs bad, of course this is untrue, as both cousins have good and bad people, in all levels of society. Arab terrorists killed innocent Jews during the end of the Turkish period and during the English Mandate, on the other hand, Jews drove innocent Arabs from their villages during the war of independence. Those Arabs fled and became, and still are, refugees, living under terrible conditions, in refugee camps, in the Arab countries surrounding Israel. The Arabs which somehow remained in Israel, gained prosperity, compared with Arabs everywhere, but somehow, never gained full equality, even though, equal by law. The main reason could be that the Arab does not serve compulsory in the Israeli Army.

In the mean time, millions of Jews immigrated to Israel, most from Europe, due to the Holocaust, but they came also from Arab countries, such as Morocco, and from the former Soviet Union, after the Communist regime collapsed. The former workable relation between local Arabs and Israeli Jews deteriorated to real hatred, especially after the terrorists started attacking Jews anywhere in the world, with methods, before considered illogical, such as suicide actions and kidnapping. Jews and Arabs stopped being equal, a sample of this is the current rate of exchange between one kidnapped Israeli soldier and convicted terrorists (1:1,000). Still the Israeli Government has problems to persuade the people to approve such exchange, even though; such deal will save thousands of tax dollars required to keep those bastards alive.

One should also remember that in this region of the world, “vendetta” still has enormous power, or in other words, you touch one of my kin, we retaliate by hurting one of your kin, irrelevant if he is or was involved. You shoot us, we shoot back, if you don’t do this, you show weakness. The terrorists shoot rockets; we shoot back, and of course, hurt innocent people.

The before mentioned millions of immigrants received on arrival immigration allowance, help and work, and in a short period converted in to full blood citizens. Compared to giving the new immigrant full rights, those poor Palestinian refugees in neighboring Arab countries such as Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, who still have not received any human rights, citizenship or possibility of succeeding to build up a normal life. The reason for this, is politics, by giving the refugees rights, they (the Arab rulers) would lose the only card for grievance with the new Israel state.

But our story is not yet complete, as Moslems fleeing their home countries to Europe and America, Europe’s open door policy in search for employment, are led by a small group of Reactionary Islamists, which not only demanded full religious rights, but also trying to influence the decision makers by forcing them, with the help of terrorism, to change their open handed policies in the Middle East. Samples of such actions are; London bombing, Madrid train bombing, New York 9-7, or even Turkey, Indonesia, Moslems countries, but not belonging to the Arab league.

The question is, if these terrorist actions are caused by the Middle East crisis, is “not related”, even though, we, Jews are blamed for everything, but the fact is, we are only a very small coil in the main fight of the Moslem and Western civilizations. Their fight with Europe and America will not benefit the Palestinian cause, just the opposite; it will weaken their getting support from the West. The fight today is about Iraq and Pakistan, oil dollars and prestige of USA and NATO, and Israel and Palestine is just a political nuisance to be considered during election campaigns.

If this is true, what will help the poor Palestinian, mishandled by local terrorists such as Hamas not receiving the simple human right for living in peace? I truly am happy I was born on the right side of Abraham’s bed!
