toten bankes

Toten Bankes

By David Verveer

The expression, "Es vet hilfen vee a toten bankes." This means something like, "It helps as much as cupping-glasses help a corpse." ... is the suitable description of switching off the lights in Israel last week, which was an act based on ignorance, stupidity and manipulation.

Israel marks Earth Hour
Israel marked Earth Hour Thursday evening, with Tel Aviv leading the way and switching off the lights first, at 8 pm. The electric company reported a major decrease in demand for electricity in the city, equal to 200000 light bulbs being turned off.

I don't know if somebody explained to the organizers of this grand feast of ignorance, that electricity, as such, can not be stored, the generators continued to work, but didn't work at their optimal efficiency, as supply was not fully utilized, and inefficient operation of the generators (power plant) meant waste of energy. In order to get a dramatic exhibition of this switch-off, the municipality building of Tel; Aviv ordered to switch on all office lights, from 6 to 8 o' clock in the evening, most workers generally switch off their office lights on termination of their work at 6, but on this special night, 2 hours of electricity was wasted in order to enable the mayor to switch off dramatically at 8 o'clock the lights in the municipality building. According my calculations 2 hours were wasted in order to earn one hour symbolic switch off, which is not only stupid but also a hoax.

Please explain to me what those bright citizens, who sat for an hour with candle light, were supporting, a solution to the water crisis? Of course not, that crisis, much more urgent than global warming, is solved by incredible stupid TV messages, urging to save the Kinereth, suggesting that showering only 4 minutes, will solve the problem, while everybody knows or should know, that the only solution to the water crisis is private financed desalination plants, (B.O.T.) which would not cost the Government any money, and will solve our shortage for ever, without damage to the environment.

Global warming (not yet scientifically proven) if it really occurs, and is not part of the climatically pendulum, switching from cold extreme to hot extreme in the last million earthly years, is certainly not caused by humans, because they use fossil energy, and CO2 (a so called green house gas) is an essential product provided by nature, which enables plants to grow, there is no evidence that this beneficial gas causes global warming, even not with videos of showing swimming ice bears.

The people who switched off the lights assisted political groups who try to promote dubious targets, both politically and commercially. These groups, which organize funding for research on environmental issues with pre-proclaimed conclusions, in order to provide pressure on the Government, to make (or block) decisions in production of energy related issues, such as new power stations, coal and gas and fuel imports, desalination plants, and so on.

save the world from overheating, drink camel milk

Save the world from overheating, drink camel milk!

By David Verveer

Yes you read it correctly, camel milk is good for you, and by drinking it, you will surely save the globe from over heating. If you read the scientific studies on the health value of camel milk, you will see that during the years, the local dairy product supplier has sold you a low quality product, claiming that a glass of milk (or an apple) a day keeps the doctor away. You know that the dairy product you buy is a mixture of cow milk with ordinary water, which the cow produced in order to feed her calves, and was stolen from them (those poor young calves), by anti-ecologist capitalists in order to enrich themselves on your account. I like to warn you that cow-milk mixture is dangerous for you, not only because its fat content and cholesterol, but also that the drinker will start looking like cows, as was intended by the creator, by creating milk for calves.

But how does Global warming relates to drinking camel milk, you will ask, a very good question, even-though, rather obvious ad not very original, I am prepared to explain. You know that cow milk has a greater fat content than camel milk, the cow-milk drinker will get fatter, obesity is one of the greater problems of modern society, fat people do not walk and prefer the comfort of a private car, which burns more fossil oil, and cause in-directly an increase of global warming.

As camels can walk for 40 years in the desert (I might be mistaken by stating this fact, as co-incidentally, the Jewish tribes walked for 40 years in Sinai, before they found the exit sign to Canaan), which gives the camel milk a slightly rancid taste, but don't worry, you get used to it, as your friendly neighboring Bedouin will tell you.

You will wonder now, where can you get your pint of camel milk, as the local store does not carry such important health food, which even will increase your aphrodisiac powers, but just as any other product on the market, this is a pure question of demand and supply, you never before requested camel milk, so why should your friendly grocery bother supplying it?

Do not under estimate the economical value of the camel and its products, as the animal provides not only milk, but also a popular meat source, it's dung is used as effective fuel source, its skin provides original camel leather, and I could continue like this for hours, but I ran out of products.

I have heard that they now produce camel milk with peanut taste, free of salmonellae poisoning, organic camel milk, and chocolate camel milk, not to mention the original camel ice-cream, a hit through the Middle East.
Camel milk is a staple food of desert nomad tribes and is richer in fat and protein than cow milk. Camel milk cannot be made into butter in the traditional churning method. It can be made if it is soured first, churned, and a clarifying agent added, or if it is churned at 24–25 °C (75–76 °F), but times will vary greatly in achieving results. The milk can readily be made into yogurt. Butter or yogurt made from camel milk is said to have a very faint greenish tinge. Camel milk is said to have many healthful properties and is used as a medicinal product in India; Bedouin tribes believe that camel milk has great curative powers if the camel's diet consists of certain plants. In Ethiopia, the milk is considered an aphrodisiac.
Camel milk, until recently, was impossible to make into traditional cheese since rennet was unable to coagulate the milk proteins to allow the collection of curds. Under the commission of the FAO, Professor J.P. Ramet of the École Nationale Supérieure d'Agronomie et des Industries Alimentaires (ENSAIA) was able to produce curdling by the addition of calcium phosphate and vegetable rennet. The cheese produced from this process has low levels of cholesterol and lactose. The sale of camel cheese is limited owing to the low yield of cheese from milk and the uncertainty of pasteurization levels for camel milk which makes adherence to dairy import regulations difficult.
You see, this is not just ecological nonsense, but a scientific fact, just like the melting of glaciers, penguins, Eskimos and ice bears losing their habitat, Venice drowning and I am sure that if our savior All Gore would have thought of this, he would have bought herds of camels, and would have become the USA's sole camel milk producer, with slogans such as "ALLGORE MILK SAVES OUR GLO

this is how history is written

This is how history is written

By David Verveer

This story is based on fictional reality, or in other words, similar types of incidents have happened, however this one did but was used in order to explain to the outsider, how he is fed with propaganda and lies (without any possibility to discover the real truth). In fact, those untrue tragedies happen daily in the on-going struggle between the Palestinians and the Israelis, some with grains of truth, as reported from one side, but all, without exception told in such a manner, that the criminal and cruel manner of behavior, as related by the accusing side, and in most cases, every story has two entire different interpretations.

The messenger (the reporter journalist who brought the story to the news media) is already brain-washed, or in such extends, opinioned, that the version of the story published from the other side, is totally ignored and discarded as pure propaganda. The problem remains of course, that, due to the noise and the impact of the story on the western media, this story becomes factual history, and one of the sides is blamed for terrible crimes, which in most cases, never eve took place.

Please remember that such incidents do occur daily, and most probably the reader could not care less what and who is guilty and what really happened, as those stories are part of a propaganda strategy fought on both sides. To be fair to the reporter, there is no sure and true way to report events in the Middle East, clean of influencing public opinion. Every event can be translated in such manner, that this side is innocent and the other side looks bad.

In order to explain the power of creating a one sided incident, I borrow a story which happened only two days ago, not related at all to the Middle East Conflict, but with many aspects which could be interpreted differently. First of all, the facts (in so far we know it), a women in her fifties, crossed a highway, at a place were pedestrians are not allowed to pass, and was hit by a car, and killed on the spot. The driver, who did not comprehend what had happened to him and the car, manage to stop the vehicle about 100 meters from the accident, his front window totally smashed. To complicate the matters, the driver is nearly blind, and because his eye site, never received a driver license. As it took him a while to get the car to stop, and to walk back to the place of the accident, his behaviour could be translated in "hit and run", especially as he knew, they would ask him immediately for his driver license. Would it have been an ordinary driver, he would not been charged with anything, as the woman crossed where crossing is not permitted. Would the driver have been an Arab; manslaughter would have been the minimum charge, besides suicide terroristic act. In the last case, the driver being an Arab, his side's reporter would tell us about the terrible conditions of the drivers family, and the poor man, who had to drive 10 / 20 kilometers every time to bring his young daughter, who suffers from a rare type of cancer, back from hospital, home, even though, the hospital is only 5 minutes away from his house on the western site of the separation wall, between east (where he lives) and west Jerusalem.

The other side would tell us that the driver was a Jewish hero, who is losing his eyesight being an innocent by-stander in a terrorist attack a few years back, who came from the hospital were he serves as volunteer. At that time of the night there are no busses or taxies to reach home, not realizing his night blindness.
But based on recent happenings in Jerusalem, we could aggravate the story, claiming that the Arab terrorist intended to kill Jews, and his blindness was only a cover-up for his real intentions, and on the other side, the heroic woman threw herself in front of the car in order to prevent a greater disaster, as she understood the real purpose of the driver, to kill as many Jews as possible (at the next bus-stop).

Luckily, the driver is a Jew, thus his house will not be destroyed, the woman is dead, and nobody knows why she crossed the road at that spot. The story will never reach the foreign press, as it doesn't contain this very important element of hate needed to make it interesting reading, but if it does, please remember my warning, you are being manupilated!

the Islam Offense

By David Verveer

To those Anti-Israel E-mail artists, who base their arguments against any or every action of the Israeli state, what are you going to put forward in your ever lasting criticism, when some moderate Arabs states, such as Egypt and Jordan declare that the Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Hamas in Gaza are serving the aggressive policies of (in your mind, peace loving) Iran.

Our hero of the two year's ago 2nd Lebanon war, Mr. Nashrallah admitted in a television interview that the terrorists arrested by the Egyptian Police in Sinai are in fact, Hezbollah fighters doing their duty in engaging Bedouin from Sinai, who for their own reasons, never were Egypt lovers, to assist them in smuggling military equipment and ammunition intended for Hamas in Gaza, through the non-populated Sinai desert, and assist them in sabotaging and attacking the Israeli tourists, visiting the resort areas of the peninsula, which by the way, is the Bedouin's second largest source of income, after smuggling drugs, ammunition, weapons, whores and anything they can make money on.

Suddenly, it becomes clear that not only Hezbollah and Hamas are utilized as weapons against the current regimes of the Arab middle-east, but that also the western sympathizers of the Palestinian cause are pawns in the strategy of the mighty Islamic Republic of Iran scheme in ruling the world.

You might say, what has Nashrallah's terrorist actions to do with the Palestinian cause, and I think, people claiming this would have been perfectly justified, provided the players of this drama were ordinary Judo-Christians with humanistic and democratic logic, but sadly, we are dealing with fanatic Islam terrorists, who plan to rule the world, in which the Palestinian question is just one of the many arrows into the western civilization.

Those kind hearted supporters of Free Palestine (what ever that is?), trying to translate any defensive action of Israel in cruelty and horror actions, and bring in arguments such as the Jews are like the Nazis, Elders of Zion and Jewish hegemony of the World Finances should be proud to know they serve directly the claws of the Islamic revolution, but let me warn you, the moment one of the Western powers falls finally into the hands of the Islam, the first people to be eliminated will be those collaborators, as they do not fit in the Islam political scheme (which hates anything which is only democratic inclined).

You sympathizers are convinced already for years that killing and terrorizing civilian Jews is perfectly justified, but if the victim(s) are Arabs, Palestinians or Lebanese, these are crimes again humanity, assassinating an arch terrorist whose actions caused hundreds of innocent Jewish civilians is a crime, kidnapping Israeli citizens is a perfect legal way to reach a barter, in order to free terrorists with blood on their hands, demonstrations against the state of Israel is called "the democratic right of people", but try to organize a demonstration against the Muslim minorities (in the mean time) that would not be permitted, not even in the most democratic country of the world, as it would be interpreted as discrimination.

Dear humanists, when will you bring a stop to the Muslim offensive, and start to defend your back porch?

A question of ethics and politeness

By David Verveer

I know that the subject I need to discuss with you is nearly taboo and certainly not considered suitable for a conservation piece, but in heaven name, without thoroughly arguing it out, will we ever know if we sin against the norms, when we answer and talk on the mobile while visiting the lavatory.

Don't give me now immediately your gut feelings (pun not intended) and tell me that this subject is too vulgar for discussion, I need to remind you that everybody has to go sometime, and the caller doesn't know where you are precisely at the moment of the call. It might be important, perhaps a cry for help, or a call from your long lost friend, who knows. In reality, you can not ignore it, if you have a mobile, you have to answer the call, irrelevant where you are and what you do.

But, and this is of course a very theoretical question, the lavatory call is from her majesty the queen, (don't give the meek excuse uttered by my wife, who said, why in would the queen "ausgerechnet du/" of all people phone you, the You, sounded insulting, suggesting that I was not worthy a phone-call from her royal highness), I have to admit that until now, she has never phoned me, but who knows? If she would have called me, and I would have answered the phone, while sitting down and doing things which one does (even royalty) at such sites, would my words be considered blaspheme or due to the fact that the caller does not realize my actions at that moment, this can be thought of one of those situations which are silently accepted and tolerated. I remember the legend that a person who was knighted only a few minutes before, lifted in public the dress of a lady, to see her garter, and when the audience snickered, he said in French (sounds much better in that language) "dishonored are thou, who thinks wrong of this" Oni soit qui mal y pense.

In my young days, when I was instructed the basic rules of ethics, we did not have a phone at home, certainly not one with sufficient long cord to reach the lavatory, thus behavior with phones was not included in the curriculum of basic behavior. I remember that my brother would take the news paper section with the comics to read while on the W.C., which we thought was rather un-polished, but it seems that this was not the reason to ruin his position in society

You might ask me now, what is wrong with you, that are problems to discuss on cyber net, what about the Israel Palestinian struggle, what about the World financial crisis, and what about the Global heating? Are those not more important subjects than answering or not answering the phone on the WC? It might be that you are correct, but on the other hand, if we feel embarrassed to deal with our daily problems, why attempting to deal with subjects we can not and will not solve.

In pre-defense against angry comments of readers, who might think I did injustice to her majesty the queen and the protocol, I never told you, which queen I am referring to and in which country she rules.

wwe have opinions, true, but whose?

We have opinions, true, but whose?

By David Verveer

In the era of Internet and e-mail, the individual average citizen has ceased to be silent masses, as the tools provided by the cyber age equipment makes everybody, from poor to rich, a talk-backer, an opinion writer, essayists and owners of a blog. People like me, who were doomed to the silent masses, now can and many times do, write our opinions in the leading news papers and media.

This is of course a very positive development, as it seems that the public opinion has indeed influence on the decision makers, and non popular actions are amended or cancelled because of cyber pressure. Obvious the democracy is served much better, which in the past relied entirely on election results, propaganda and demonstrations, today, relies much more on the general trend of the opinions written in the internet media.

But, we might have a serious problem, as the former silent masses are easy manipulated by professional political advisors, who guide the reader with half truths, false reporting of events, by writing about happenings, people and items, which are not based on true facts but pushes the masses in the directions of the candidate or politician he represents.

In order not to sound too far fetched some examples from a cyber discussion running currently in a Dutch Internet Paper "de Volkskrant", on Israel's Gaza offensive, a few months ago. A rather bizarre academic with the name of Thomas von Dunk wrote an aggressive article, claiming Israeli cruelty to the local population, caused by the Israeli feeling, that it belongs to the "Herrenvolk" (an expression used during the Holocaust expressing the superiority of the German people). His opinion and 50% of the hundreds of comments were based on propaganda information supplied by the enemies of Israel, while the supporters of Israel used information (also propaganda) produced by the other side. Non of the participants had first hand knowledge, nor was that required, as very soon the comments going like a ping pong ball, forwards and backwards, citing relevant and irrelevant declarations from Roman Caesars, Nazi criminals, American presidents Dutch politicians, historical facts and fantasies, truth and half truths, personal opinions on related and un-related items, including declarations on morality of the world, Israel, Jews, anti Semites, commentators, and so on, soon the discussion became absolutely separated of the stupid (my opinion) essay written by von Dunk, like for example, who are the Palestinians, are they a people, when were they a nation, or has Israel the right to exist, are they occupiers of Arab land, have they a historic claim on their land, as they are descendants from the Khazars, and I could go on and on, but after the first hundred I fall asleep from boredom.

However, I now need to remind you that majority of the participants have no personal experiences and knowledge on the war in Gaza, nor did they ever speak to a Palestinian Arab from Gaza, or a Jew from Israel, their comments were based entirely on information provided by the media and internet, like this Dutch politician (van Bommel) who participated in an anti-Israel demonstration shouting Arab slogans on liberating Palestine and death to the Jews (he told the press afterwards, that he did not know the meaning of the slogans, as they were in Arabic).

You might think that the above story is funny, but don't make a mistake, this influences the politicians, in their votes and actions, such as what happened with the Turkey's premier, speaking out at an international meeting about the actions of Israel in Gaza, resulting serious cooling of the relations between Turkey and Israel, which is based on common interest, military and economic cooperation, including causing bloody riots and demonstrations in Istanbul, which encountered actions by the Israeli public, who decided to boycott their most favorite holiday resorts in Turkey (Anatalia), bringing an economic catastrophe to the tourism of that region.

The question I am asking, if the cyber and media revolution serves or harms the civilization and humanity of the free world, or only provide tools for further manipulations of the politicians.

liebermania

Is Liebermania harmful to peace?

By David Verveer

Mark Antony:
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears; I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him;

Currently, we, Israelis are undergoing a shock treatment initiated by one of the most controversial politicians; Israel ever has produced. I am talking about Israel's new foreign minister, Avikdor Lieberman, who on his maiden speech as foreign minister, immediately told his audience and together with them, the entire world, how he intents to run his office and what his priorities are. An outsider would say that he acted "like a Bull in a China Store", when he told his audience that he opposes one sided actions by Israel, and if the Arabs really want peace, they need to reciprocate in equal terms, or in other words: "Peace for Peace".

His speech (and his expected policies) are putting an end to the general trend of International peace efforts, agreements and treaties, oppose everything ever agreed upon during the numerous Israeli – Arab meetings and discussions, and put the entire Middle Eastern conflict in a new perspective.
But let us one moment be totally fair, the peace efforts going on and on, every time Israel is forced by International pressure to concede to the Palestinians, and the peace is still not in the vicinity, as the Palestinians are known for always missing opportunities. A harsh and unrelenting policy might force the Palestinians to grasp the last straw, in order to prevent that Lieberman and "Liebermania" will ruin for ever, an alternative for two independent states, side by side.

We should be clear, the settlers, the occupation and Israel's actions are not the cause of the Middle Eastern struggle, they complicate any future solution, they give Israel a bad world opinion, but the war is about something entirely different, namely the stability and continuance of autocratic anti democratic regimes running the neighboring Arab countries, who see a democratic nucleus in their midst, as a danger for their existence. As has been proven over the 60 odd years of the conflict, compromises and considerations have never moved anything in the direction of peace, just the opposite; it accelerated the demands and claims by the Arabs. Everything Israel ever did was received by the International public opinion as aggressive acts against those poor Arabs, and Lieberman's sentiments indeed echo today the majority of the Israelis, as can be seen in the latest election results.

Perhaps we, the humanistic socialist minority, who more or less governed Israel until now, trying to please our beneficiaries, the USA and the EU, are wrong, perhaps we do not understand the enemy, by treating them as equals, perhaps our attitude is not suitable in our region, as the Arabs do not comprehend our gestures of peace and live on principles of Jihad, vengeance and hate. It might be that Lieberman's policy is much closer to the Arab way of thinking, basing on pure force. Lieberman is correct, I hate to admit it, that our policies until now had meager results and did not accomplish anything, nor brought peace and tranquility to the population. What did the action by Arik Sharon, by removing the settlers from the Gaza strip, accomplish? Nothing other than famine and despair for the local inhabitants, which were depending for their income of labor from those settlements? Would the Gaza's laborers had utilized the existing thriving farm units in continuing farming there, they would not be in such poverty today, but than again, a prospering Gaza would not serve the Palestinian cause.

"Liebermania" might be risky, might bring the fury of the entire world on Israel through boycotting it, severing diplomatic relations and causing empty resolutions at the UN and Security Council, but on the other hand, the entire free world needs to start dealing with the Islamic invasion and Israel could be like "the gates of Vienna", stopping the Muslim advances. Defending your ideals is not always racism, even if it on a short term looks like it.
