Can a war be fair and human friendly?

Can a war be fair and human friendly?

By David Verveer

I am rather mystified by the Goldstone UN report dealing with the latest Gaza war, not so much because the report is tainted and one sided and most certainly not impartial, as data processed in the report came from Hamas terrorists and Palestinian people who are currently under the rule by the same Hamas gang, and would endanger their lives if they would supply objective statements about Israeli actions in the Gaza territory, and also because the Israeli refused to supply their version of the happenings during the war, by claiming that the conclusions of the report were pre meditated even before Mr. Goldstone started to investigate.

My mystification deals with something totally different, namely the conclusion that Israel did not fight a fair war, and my question is, what in heavens name is a fair war, when war and warring through the ages is based on the principle of hurting, killing and destroying the enemy, in such an extend, that he will surrender and the ruling power goes to the winners.

There exist no fair war, not in Gaza, not in Afghanistan, not in Somali and Iraq or any other place on this globe, the weapons used are designed to make as many as possible victims on the enemies side, preferable killing soldiers from the other side, with impersonal weapons, who can not differentiate who is in the target area, enemies forces, innocent civilians or mistaken identification of their own forces.

Terrorist fighting, hit and run tactics specialize in fighting behind the backs of the civilian population causes victims and damage the innocents, but that is not only in Gaza, but in any battle, anywhere in the world which is based on a struggle between terrorists and regular army.

Nobody will claim that the Israeli forces never made any mistakes in judgment, were un-necessarily cruel, involved non involved civilians, as it is very hard to be objective in the middle of life endangering actions, not all boys aged 18 to 23 have sufficient will power to fight the primitive instincts for saving your self before anything else.
We all want to live, and soldiers are not anything different.

I agree with Goldstone that all wars are inhuman, especially the modern wars with mass killing computer directed weapons are crimes to humanity, but selecting the Israeli response to 8 years of bombardment of their civilian population is unfair and certainly not balanced judgment. And people who will claim the fact that Goldstone is a Jew himself, should remember that this does not make him right or wrong, his religion and tribal origin are totally irrelevant.

The people who should be judged by the Hague tribunal are the Islam powers such as Iran, Syria, Sudan and Venezuela who finance the Palestinian cause and try to create havoc in Israel but also Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Golf states. Those war mongers believe in power by causing panic and chaos, currently in the Middle East but soon all over Europe.

Why the west criticezes Israel on its latest Gaza War

Why the west criticizes Israel on its latest Gaza War

By David Verveer

I just realized why the majority of Europeans criticize Israel for the Israel Hamas war in Gaza, last year. I do not think that anybody normal sympathizes with the Hamas, a terrorist group, who was involved in many international terrorist crimes in the last years and is financed and trained by Iran, Syria and the Hezbollah.

Nor do I think that anybody blames Israel for taken finally action after being bombed with missiles for eight long years, but still, most Europeans find Israel the guilty party due to a simple fact of non proportional number of victims in comparison on both sides, namely 9 Israeli soldiers lost their life in this war, while the number of Palestinian victims (civilians, terrorists) soared to 1.300 to 3.000 (depending on the source of information).

This lopsided proportion of victims irritates the romantic European, why only so few Israeli victims and so many Palestinian victims, that is not fair play, they claim.

First of all, the reason for these unequal proportions is mainly because the terrorists fired from behind civilian population centers, with relative primitive weapons, while Israel used hyper modern arsenal, shooting back to positions from where they were attacked, without endangering the lives of their soldiers.

Secondly, does this humane European romantic realizes that in the Afghanistan war, the Nato fights against the Taliban; with the same lopsided proportions in victims. Why are the Afghani victims ignored and the Palestinian victims celebrated, especially in the media?

I don't think Israel has to apologize for winning the war, and trying to prevent the sacrifice of soldiers given their lives in service of the nation, we, the Israelis do not believe in a hero's death, with 72 virgins in heaven attending the fallen hero. Further more, I think that if Israel would have lost the war, or any war for that matter, we would ceased to exist, we would, however received the sympathy from the Europeans, but with compassion alone, one can not survive.

Why the Western society doesn't realize that the modern wars are impersonal, computers on drones are used to find the targets, the shooting is done for the distance of many kilometers, gone are the days of fighting man to man, no modern army of today can afford to fight a duel with the enemy, today war is high tech, and who possesses the best equipment wins the war, even though, the war correspondents try to give a personal touch to the story (generally not very true, as they were not there), but there is a little heroism left in the wars of today.

Israeli Garlic Smart Bomb used in Gaza

Israeli Garlic 'smart bomb' used in Gaza
08-Jan-2004
Scientists in Israel have developed a new weapon that allows the garlic compound "Allicin" to selectively kill.
Our correspondent reports that Palestinians in Gaza claim that the Israelis are using a new kind of weapon, the "Garlic Smart Bombs", in their attacks against the so called "cancer cells of the middle East", (our correspondent quotes here to a the words of hardliner Avigdor Lieberman, a prominent Israeli Politician who is likely to become Minister of Defense after the Israeli elections next week, who has indicated many times, that the Hamas terrorists are cancer cells in the Palestinian population, and should be destroyed).
Several months ago, a team at the Weizmann Institute reported that they successfully destroyed live by using a new, two-step system to deliver "allicin". Allicin is the substance which gives garlic its distinctive aroma and flavor. It is also potent and has been shown to kill not only cells, but also microbes, and healthy human body cells. Allicin is also highly unstable and breaks down quickly. This rapid breakdown and undiscriminating toxicity presented twin hurdles to creating an allicin-based reaction. Dr Albert Rabin and his team discuss an ingenious delivery method which works with the pinpoint accuracy of a smart bomb.
Up to date, those kinds of weapons are still forbidden to be used in International warfare, as the lasting effects are still little known, even though, the Israeli army claims these weapons to be very selective, and will effect only victims older than 18 years old, and does not harm children nor pregnant females or elder people, which have developed during their life time sufficient antidotes against the Allicin reaction.
A Belgium Journalist Joopi de Haan, touring the Gaza strip after Israel's latest incursion, visiting sites which were flattened by Israeli bombs reported a pungent smell of garlic hanging over the ruins. In an interview with a local Hamas fighter, Hassan Hamor who happened to visit his girlfriend, during the Israelis bombardment, noticed that the Hamas patriot seemed to be confused, especially in subjects such as victims and numbers, or what happened during the last three weeks, the before mentioned site effect of the "Garlic Smart Bomb". This might be the reason, that even now, after the cease fire of one and a half week, no official lists or numbers of the victims have been produced.
The Turkeys Prime Minister intent to refer a complaint of the illegal use of garlic by Israeli Forces to the United Nations Security Council in New York, (after large anti (garlic) Israel demonstrations in Istanbul and Ankara). The British Culinary Society decided to boycott Israel and to banish use of garlic in their kitchens. Their French counterparts refused to participate claiming that Garlic is one of their main ingredients of the French dishes. The Spanish and Italian chefs refused to comment. In Wall Street the cost of Garlic dropped to on known levels after this new rumor started to develop, up to date, the new administration of President Obama failed to comment on the matter.
Venezuela's President Chaves pronounced the celebration of "anti garlic day", and refused a visa for the popular Israeli Television Chef, of the Israeli culinary show, "Garlic and Pepper" Haim Cohen, who was invited by the Jewish Culinary Society in Caracas.
Allicin is an organic compound obtained from garlic. This colourless liquid has a distinctively pungent smell. This compound exhibits antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.[1] Allicin is garlic's defence mechanism against attacks by pests.

how to win a war

How to win a war?

By David Verveer

We first of all have to admit, wars are bad, and many innocent people die or suffer and lose everything they ever possessed. Everybody knows this and agrees to this, but her in Israel (all great believers in peace, the most popular word in our language) seem to get into wars every two to five years, not because we want something of our neighbors, besides living in peace, but we fight order to defend our citizens, a duty of any sovereign state in the world.

The second point is, if going to war, you have to be stronger than your enemy, and win the war or else you lose everything, as nations like ours have no alternative, we finally returned after 2000 years, and losing the war, which is what our opponents intent, means fleeing back to the original countries, from where we or our ancestors fled (after the holocaust), who are far from anxious to take us back.

But this is simplifying a very complex situation in "the modern media" fought skirmishes, in which clever propaganda masters use the internet and media, by picturing events in a false light, capable of manipulating heroic and humanistic behaviour into defeat, cruelty and homicide.

There is no doubt that the last action in Gaza of the Israeli army against a small group of Islamic terrorists (Hamas) was a military victory for Israel, in which it accomplished in hurting the Hamas, temporary reduce he missile bombardment of the south, and even slow down the re-arming efforts of smuggling through tunnels coming from the Egyptian Sinai dessert.

But which value has a military victory in our days, when our brave enemies have the World Press in their pocket, and every reporter, reporting from the Israeli border, received from their Palestinian counterparts, living in Gaza, reports showing Israel's cruelties, even though, in most cases proven incorrect by the Israeli videos, but who believes those blood thirsty Jews, a father with a dead child in his hand, is much better propaganda material, than a very sophisticated video film, taken by an unmanned Israeli airplane. The very few Palestinians who dared to tell the visiting Press (after the war) the truth about Hamas' behaviour and that of the Israelis, were / are treated extremely humane by the Hamas, after they reappeared from their safe hiding places (underneath the hospital), they shoot the Palestinians who talked in the legs, as they are enemies of the Islam, (see video by the French television).

This war shows again how the world reacts against anything Israel does, who really wants to know the truth. The world is talking about an unbalanced power struggle, with more than 1300 Palestinian death and only 13 Israelis, that is unfair, we should have given them a fair chance to kill some more Israelis, and so what, 8 years of bombing innocent Israelis can not be compared with the havoc created in the strip, with those modern planes, tanks and artillery. I see it as a kind of Anti-Semitism, as we did not see the same reactions when Russia dealt with Chechnya, or NATO in Bosnia, not to forget our allies, the USA in Afghanistan or Iraq.

But what could you care, seeing the war in Gaza is an entertaining event, just as the Obama's swearing in a few days later. The talkback fighters in the cyber press were able to give air to their intelligent and informed opinions, some bordering
Anti-Semitism, blaming Israel for everything which has gone wrong in the last 400 years (some even used arguments older than 2000 years), only a few took the Israeli side of the argument. Funny anough, most Dutch talkbacks in comparison with the Belgium's Flemish opinions were fair and more objective in their blame and accusations. I have no idea why the Flemish people are so against Jews and Israel, but that is irrelevant to my argument, which deals with the fact that even though we won the war, we lost it in the world opinion, which does not make a lot of difference, military wise, but might bring Israeli officers into war crime tribunals shows, put up by humanism loving countries.

For those who are sorry they missed some interesting episodes of the last Gaza campaign, don't worry, we will have soon new episodes of our next war with those nice quaint Arabs, as the war has been fought, won and lost, but the problem remained unchained, and the world is already poring in money to rearm them as soon as possible, so they get a fair chance to try again. What a wonderful world we are living in.
